'Hair loss' can be caused by any number of conditions. In fact, losing around 100 hairs a day is a natural part of hair 'growth cycle', but at some point, some excessive hair loss could happen. There is a strong chance that women with hair loss have a deficiency of some kind that may be helped through nutrition or supplements. In some cases these women can be helped before menopause through other means. Such things as low iron and hormones may be causing their hair loss. You should check with your doctor for 'anemia', excessive male hormones, 'thyroid' function, rheumatoid diseases, and other medical problems. Hair loss could be caused by medication and stress too. In most cases, it is a temporary situation. Fortunately, medications and 'hair care products' can be used to manage hair loss. We suggest you get the test results from your preferred doctor as a starting point.

I want to ask about other types of treatment other than Minoxidil I can use. I am class 6 and I have treated my hair with Minoxidil 5% for more than one year and it doesn't give any result except a few fine short hairs
Being a class 6, we recommend a comprehensive program for you maximum 'medical therapy', which includes 'Propecia', 'Rogaine' and Hair Cycle products. 'Propecia prolongs the growth cycle of hair and will slow down you 'hair loss'. 'Rogaine' stimulates the anagen phase and gives strength and thickness to your hairs. 'Hair cycle shampoo' and conditioner are designed to provide the two effects described above with natural ingredients. I started to use a re-growth treatment, Minoxidil 5% 2 weeks ago. I am class 3 in the Norwood-Hamilton classification. What are the other non-medicinal shampoo I can use? or what else I can used to speed -up the growth of my hair?
You should keep using Minoxidil 5% that stimulates the anagen phase and gives strength and thickness to your hairs and start using Hair Cycle care products. We also recommend a well balanced diet and vitamins that are essential not only to prevent hair loss, but also to promote healthy hair. Good nutrition is vital to healthy hair growth, just as it's essential to overall good health. Although your body needs a variety of vitamins and minerals to maintain proper body functions, there are several that are specific to hair growth and health such as the B vitamins, especially B5 Vitamin C and E, biotin, and Zink. It is important to check with your doctor before starting a vitamin program, especially if you have health concerns.

Hi, I am 20 years old and am a very healthy, sporty person. About 2 years ago I noticed my hair was thinning out and on the pillow in the morning for example. I could see hairs which were of a noticeable amount. Recently, the problem has become worse, styling my hair, showering, sleeping, and combing my hands through my hair, all result in hairs falling on the floor or being left in my hand. I have been to the doctor about this problem, had blood tests for thyroid problems and all came back negative (sadly I wanted it to be positive so there was something to cure). I am really worried. What can I do? Surely there is medication or something to restart or help with hair growth, as my hair is gradually becoming thinner and thinner, in the shower, when I look in the mirror, it really scares me as the wet hair shows how thin areas are.
Hair loss can be caused by any number of conditions. If you already had a blood test that came back negative, it could be male pattern baldness. Even when it is a permanent situation, exist medications and hair care products that could be use to slow the hair loss process. It could be advised to schedule an appointment with a dermatologist or hair specialist for an evaluation. We recommend Minoxidil 5% for male pattern baldness because it stimulates the anagen phase and gives strength and thickness to your hairs and Hair Cycle care products. You could consider using Rogaine Foam 5% that does not contain alcohol. It does evaporate right away without the grease effects. You can use it twice per day.
I am having excessive hair loss post partum. Before pregnancy I used to have hair loss but not this much. Need help. I also have lots of Gray hair
Postpartum hair loss is a normal and temporary situation and there is no need to panic. In fact, most women will return to their usual hair growth cycle between 6 and 12 months after birth. During pregnancy, increased levels of estrogen prolong the growing stage. There are fewer hairs in the resting stage and fewer falling out each day, so you have thicker, more luxuriant tresses. After giving birth, the estrogen levels take a tumble and a lot more hair follicles enter the resting stage. It is very common to experience excessive hair loss around three months after delivery. Within six to twelve months after delivery is when most women find that their hair has once again reached a normal state.
I used to have thick hair but over the past ten years it has thinned out. I can no longer wear a pony tail without scalp showing. Even if I just pull my hair back to the base of my neck you can see my scalp. I haven't taken any medications beyond the birth control that I am currently on. Is there any way to treat this or make my hair grow?
Hair loss can be caused by any number of conditions. There may be a hormonal imbalance, possibly from the birth control pills. A medical workup is necessary to rule out high androgen levels, or telogen effluvium, among other things. This would be the first step.
Your ponytail may also be the problem. A condition known as traction alopecia occurs when tight ponytails cause tension on the hair and the scalp. The first task is to release the tension. You always can adopt a new hair style. The traction alopecia may not be permanent. An effective treatment of traction alopecia is to simply avoid hair styling that puts excessive strain on the hair roots. Even after avoiding the causes of the traction alopecia it may take a period of several months for the hair to recover from this severe hair pulling disorder. If traction alopecia continues for a long time and the same hair is repeatedly pulled out, then the hair follicles in the skin can become so damaged that they stop growing hair permanently. Signs to watch out for include an itchy red scalp, tension headaches, hair breakage around the scalp, and random bald patches.
